Homework Week 6

Due: 20th August


Australia Zoo was AWESOME!

For homework, write 3 animal adaptations 
that you learnt about at the zoo.
Write the animals' name, its classification and what its special adaptations are.

Please make sure you get an adult to check your work to make sure you have no spelling mistakes or punctuation mistakes. You must answer in correct sentences. If you have forgotten you might like to look back at the Australia Zoo website.


Please tell your parents you will be presenting your animal PowerPoint on Wednesday 2nd September starting at 9am. Following the presentations we will have a shared morning tea.

    The Echidna is a mammal. It has spikes to protect itself from predators.
    The Crocodile is a reptile. It has a third eyelid which is like goggles over their eyes.

  8. I did not attend the excursion but I have researched it.
    1.Bengal Tiger. Mammal. Panthera Tigris Tigris. Its adaptations are that it has striped skin to hide from predators and it has striped claws to scratch people.
    2.Laughig Kookaburra .Dacelo Novaeguineae. Bird, King Fisher. Its adaptations are that it doesn't need free water to live and it sits in high trees to see predators below
    3.Boa Constrictor. Cold blooded, Reptile .Its adaptations are that it has camouflaged skin to hide from predators and it has a muscular body to squeeze its prey to death.

    3. A platypus is a mammal. Male platypuses have venom in the spurs on their ankles that scientists believe they use to defend their territory during the mating season.

    Classification: The dingo is a mammal, which means it gives birth to its babies.
    Adaptation: Dingo's howl to attract pack members and to also ward off other dingo's that are not in the pack.

    Adaptation: The jaws of a saltwater crocodile has the most pressure to crush its prey, of any other crocodiles.

    Adaptation: The baby Koala has to eat its mothers poo to get the bacteria it needs to be able to eat the gum trees leaves.
