1. The tradition of eating pancakes the day before lent starts was to use up the butter, fat and eggs that were forbidden during lent.

1.Pancakes have butter, fat and eggs in them, they were forbidden during lent , so some people eat them before lent and then go without some foods during lent.

1. Initially Shrove Tuesday was to use up all the food that would rot away over the fasting period of Lent. The English people made pancakes with milk, fat and eggs.
ReplyDelete2. The palms are from last years Palm Sunday. This reminds us that Jesus died for our sin. The ashes are used for putting on your head on Ash Wednesday. They symbolise penance and death.
3. The promise was to give canned food and items to Saint Vincent de Paul.
4. The money we give goes to the poor in our country and other countries who need food and other items.
5. I learnt that by giving money to Project Compassion we can teach people to farm which improves their lives.

5. Caritas Australia and Tutu teach people food for life. They teach them to grow, cook, sell and buy healthy food and animals like chickens.
God wants us to share what we have.

1. Because some people enjoy pancakes, and have that as a treat before they have to give it up for lent.
