HOMEWORK WEEK 2
Due: WEDNESDAY 14th October
This term our class will explore heat in a science unit called Heating Up.
As part of this unit students are asked to find things at home that are heat sources and either draw them or take a photo to share with the class.(You may email me the photo and I will put it on the blog.)
Safety note; Students are asked to use safe ways to search for heat sources, including slowly moving a hand towards something and withdrawing before it gets too hot.
Tasks to do
1. Brainstorm with your family different objects at home that are heat sources and discuss if each one is warm, hot or very hot. Write an example of each on the blog " Heat sources that I have found in my house are........."
2. Discuss whether the object is producing heat or was heated by something else.
For example:
* A hairdryer. The vent area can get hot. It produces its own heat.
* A globe in a bedside lamp. It can get hot. It produces its own heat.
* A saucepan on the stove. It gets very hot. It is heated by something else.
Students only need to have a picture of one object that is a heat source for discussion in class on Wednesday.
I will not post comments straight away to ensure students are not copying answers without doing the investigation.

Homework Week 1
What was the most unexpected thing that happened during your school holidays?
Did you go somewhere you have never been before?
Did you eat something new or meet someone new?
Did you see anything amazing?
I was lucky enough to take my family to Cairns. We went on the Skyrail through the Daintree rainforest. We also went to Green Island where we saw beautiful coral, clams, amazing fish and even turtles and stingrays. I went to a Greek restaurant for the first time and am not really sure what dish I had as the menu was in Greek ( I do know it was chicken though and very delicious). They even randomly smashed plates on the floor. My kids loved the greek desserts and the Cold Rock icecream their Aunt spoiled them with. The weather was beautiful and I had a fantastic time.
